Important Warning: Read Before Participating
CryptoBattle involves significant financial risk. You may lose some or all of your staked cryptocurrency. This platform is not suitable for everyone. Only participate with funds you can afford to lose entirely. Past performance does not guarantee future results. This is not financial, investment, or legal advice.
1. General Risk Warning
CryptoBattle is a decentralized prediction market platform where users stake cryptocurrency on meme battle outcomes. By using this platform, you acknowledge and accept the following:
- Total Loss Risk: You may lose 100% of your staked amount in any round. There is no mechanism to recover lost stakes.
- No Guarantees: We make no guarantees regarding profitability, returns, or the preservation of your funds.
- Not Investment Advice: Nothing on this platform constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Consult qualified professionals before participating.
- Experimental Technology: Blockchain technology and smart contracts are experimental. Unforeseen issues may arise.
2. Cryptocurrency & Blockchain Risks
2.1. Price Volatility
Cryptocurrency values can fluctuate dramatically. Even if you win a round, the fiat value of your rewards may decrease significantly due to market conditions. Conversely, losses may be amplified by price movements.
2.2. Transaction Irreversibility
All blockchain transactions are final and irreversible. Once you commit a vote or stake funds, the transaction cannot be undone. Sending funds to wrong addresses results in permanent loss.
2.3. Network Congestion & Gas Fees
During periods of high network activity:
- Transaction fees (gas) may become extremely high
- Transactions may be delayed or fail
- You may miss critical phase deadlines due to delays
- Failed transactions still consume gas fees
2.4. Smart Contract Risks
The CryptoBattle smart contracts, while developed with security best practices, may contain:
- Undiscovered bugs or vulnerabilities
- Logic errors that could result in fund loss
- Exploits that malicious actors could leverage
Smart contracts are immutable once deployed. Critical bugs cannot always be patched without deploying entirely new contracts.
3. Platform-Specific Risks
3.1. Commit-Reveal Mechanism (Close Voting)
Critical: Salt Loss = Stake Loss
In Close Voting rounds, your vote is encrypted using a cryptographic "salt" stored only in your browser's localStorage. If you lose this salt, you cannot reveal your vote, and your entire stake will be permanently forfeited. There is no recovery mechanism.
You can lose your salt by:
- Clearing browser data, cookies, or localStorage
- Uninstalling or resetting your browser
- Using browser privacy modes that don't persist data
- Switching to a different browser or device
- Factory resetting your device
- Browser crashes or corruption
3.2. Unrevealed Votes Penalty
If you fail to reveal your vote during the Reveal Phase for any reason, your stake is permanently forfeited and transferred to the platform treasury. Common causes include:
- Forgetting to reveal before the deadline
- Technical issues preventing transaction submission
- Insufficient gas to complete the reveal transaction
- Network congestion causing missed deadlines
- Lost salt (see above)
3.3. Timing Risks
Round phases have strict time boundaries enforced by the blockchain. You must:
- Commit your vote before the Commit Phase ends
- Reveal your vote before the Reveal Phase ends
- Account for transaction confirmation times
- Monitor phase transitions actively
Last-minute transactions are risky. Allow adequate buffer time before deadlines.
3.4. Device & Browser Dependency
Your cryptographic salts are stored locally on your device. This means:
- You must reveal from the same browser you used to commit
- Device loss or damage can result in stake forfeiture
- Cross-device synchronization is not automatic
- You are solely responsible for backing up your salts
4. Voting & Outcome Risks
4.1. Unpredictable Results
Round outcomes depend on the collective behavior of all participants, which is inherently unpredictable. No amount of analysis guarantees winning outcomes.
4.2. Mode-Specific Dynamics
- Majority Mode: Winning requires correctly predicting crowd behavior. Popular choices may become less profitable due to more winners sharing the pool.
- Minority Mode: Winning requires contrarian thinking. The "obvious" unpopular choice may be chosen by many, negating the minority advantage.
4.3. Tie Scenarios
If both sides receive equal votes, all revealed participants receive refunds, but:
- No profit is generated in tie scenarios
- Gas fees spent on transactions are not refunded
- Time invested yields no return
4.4. Whale Manipulation Risk
While the commit-reveal mechanism prevents front-running, participants with larger stakes may still influence outcomes, particularly in low-participation rounds.
5. Technical & Security Risks
5.1. Wallet Security
Your wallet security is your responsibility:
- Never share your private keys or seed phrases with anyone
- CryptoBattle will never ask for your private keys
- Compromised wallets can result in total fund loss
- Use hardware wallets for significant amounts
5.2. Phishing & Scam Risks
Be vigilant against:
- Fake websites impersonating CryptoBattle
- Fraudulent social media accounts
- Malicious browser extensions
- Fake customer support contacts
- Airdrop and giveaway scams
Always verify you are on the official CryptoBattle website before connecting your wallet or signing transactions.
5.3. Platform Availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted platform access. Service may be affected by:
- Server outages or maintenance
- DDoS attacks or security incidents
- Third-party service failures
- Blockchain network issues
Platform downtime during critical phases could prevent you from revealing votes on time.
5.4. Network Selection Errors
Connecting to wrong networks or sending funds to wrong chain addresses can result in permanent fund loss. Always verify you are connected to the correct network before transacting.
6. Regulatory & Legal Risks
6.1. Jurisdictional Uncertainty
Cryptocurrency and prediction market regulations vary significantly across jurisdictions and are constantly evolving. What is legal today may become restricted or prohibited tomorrow.
6.2. User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- Determining whether participation is legal in your jurisdiction
- Complying with all applicable laws and regulations
- Reporting and paying any applicable taxes
- Understanding the legal implications of your participation
6.3. Regulatory Changes
Future regulatory changes may:
- Restrict or prohibit platform access in certain regions
- Require disclosure of user information to authorities
- Impose new compliance requirements
- Affect the value or transferability of cryptocurrency
6.4. No Legal Recourse
Due to the decentralized nature of the platform and blockchain technology, legal recourse for disputes may be limited or unavailable. Smart contract outcomes are final and enforced automatically.
7. Responsible Participation Guidelines
To minimize risks, we strongly recommend:
Only Stake What You Can Lose
Never stake funds needed for essential expenses, debts, or financial obligations. Treat participation as entertainment, not investment.
Understand Before Participating
Fully understand the voting mechanics, phase timings, and commit-reveal process before staking any funds. Read the FAQ and documentation thoroughly.
Backup Your Salts
For Close Voting rounds, consider securely backing up your salts outside the browser. Never share salts publicly, but keep personal backups.
Set Reminders
Set calendar reminders for reveal phase deadlines. Missing reveal deadlines means losing your stake permanently.
Verify Everything
Always verify you're on the official website, connected to the correct network, and understand what you're signing before approving transactions.
Seek Help If Needed
If you're experiencing gambling-related issues, seek professional help. Resources like Gamblers Anonymous and national helplines are available.
Acknowledgment of Risks
By using CryptoBattle, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted all risks described in this document. You confirm that you are participating voluntarily, with full awareness that you may lose your entire stake. You agree that CryptoBattle, its developers, operators, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any losses incurred through platform use.
If you do not accept these risks, do not use the platform.
